Pup and Young Dog Development Course
Whilst genetics plays an important role in the overall abilities of a dog, what happens (and does not happen) during the raising of dogs will have a significant impact on their overall performance. It has been said that ‘’the right upbringing and development can turn a dog that would have been mediocre, into a good dog or a dog that would have been good, into a great dog.’’
TASK-9 not only has Australia’s most comprehensive working dog breeders program, we also operate the most advanced and comprehensive pup and young dog raising and development program for our breeding and young dogs.
During this course you will be integrated into the actual training and development activities with our pups and young dogs, working with them as they progress and are prepared for their later roles and tasks.
The program not only covers general raising, conditioning and development genetic to all roles and tasks that ensure a confident, well balanced and stable dog, it also covers the specific early development, conditioning and training activities required to prepare dogs for specific later tasks including scent detection roles, assistance services, search and rescue, Law enforcement and Military etc.
In addition to extensive practical training with pups and young dogs, the program also covers detailed learning on canine psychology and behaviour, reinforcement theory, animal learning processes, and canine care and welfare.
