The WDD program trains participants in developing the confidence, environmental conditioning, working drives and skill sets of young and green (novice) dogs, and to prepare them for formal training and working dog applications. Participants are taught an understanding of K9 behaviour, working drives and how to effectively develop the foundation of working dogs, on which all future performance is based.

The program also comprehensively covers OH & S considerations, functional exercise design and structured learning outcomes. This course is competency based and successful personnel will receive a certificate acknowledging those competencies and skill sets.

Duration: 3 days; or 2 days for personnel who have completed the Law Enforcement Operations Decoy course.
